WHAT is The Sketch Club?
The Sketch Club is a playbook of weekly sketch assignments and design challenges to exercise your creative mind.
It is also an open sketchbook, a design journal where I share with you thoughts on design, creative processes, interesting books, and lessons learned.
WHY is this relevant?
Sketching is one of the basic tools for becoming a better (and happier) designer, artist, or creator.
Sketching is a craft. Bringing the craft of sketching to the core of my practice was an essential task in the recovery and growth of my creative self. I am sharing my creative journey with you with the hope you will also find value in the craft as I did.
HOW are we doing this?
Practice, practice, practice!
Sketching is also a personal practice. I always attach personal examples to each assignment and share with you my design processes. Take them as a guide to explore your own practice. Make them yours.
WHO is The Sketch Club for?
The Sketch Club is for anyone who wants to practice art and design.
All levels are welcome!
You will see that the tasks are sometimes funny, silly, or seem too basic. If you are experienced, please don’t take them for granted! Bringing things back to the basics is a good way to clear the mind and improve the process.
If you are a beginner, these are definitely for you! These exercises are designed for you to have fun while learning through the process of practicing your craft. And most of my design journal entries are lessons learned through my own creative journey - we are always learning.
SO WHAT, then?
Community.
I created The Sketch Club two years ago at the beginning of the pandemic as a social event in the office I work at. We played with basic design tools and shared that creative time with each other.
I am now bringing these tools into a newsletter with the intention of building a community of like-minded people willing to grow as creatives.
Join The Sketch Club!
If you would like to come on board on this creative journey and be part of this community, feel free to subscribe to the newsletter to stay up-to-date.
Thanks so much for reading!
Cheers and happy sketching! 💫✏️
